Indian Grannies & Tattoos

i think old, indian women from rural india kickstarted the whole hippie, tattoo movement.... i mean if you go to any rajasthani village, you will find these old grandmas with weird little tattoos on their arms.... so tommy lee is actually only as cool as an old, indian woman. ok...enough of my pointless banter for today...

played this interesting game in property class today to combat spring fever as we were kept inside...five or six of us opened an AIM chat window...and then proceeded to tell a story where each person gets to say one sentence...kinda like who's line is it anyway....well...it turned out to be a rip-off of lord of the rings combined with a flying elephant and a groundhog that was immediately killed....other than that we ran around for some free pizza which turned out to make me feel sick and again curse take-out pizza under my breath...the food of common folk...my taste buds deserve better...fellini's perhaps.

filed taxes today...and as usual i get the loonies...one guy was from china...not a resident...but wanted to file as a resident...even when he shows me a treaty saying he's a non-resident...aye caramba...and then another guy...who wants to file married jointly...but has actually separated from his wife...good grief...finally....i get a straight up grad student and hope i can at least send one person on her merry way with a nice refund...she ends up owing $400 and starts questioning my ability to compute taxes...uggh.

with that...i finished reading for tomorrow...and have come home now to eat some grub and outline torts...tomorrow should be fun...being taken out to 5&10 by my law firm...and then friday i'm being taken out to lunch by them in atlanta...and that night going to ami's birthday and hanging out with hema and friends until i return back to athens for some much needed studying. judgment day is approaching...i better be ready...or as my christian friends remind me...i will burn in hell.

till later...

Blah

i suck. ok, enough bashing me. lets bash everyone else. first of all terri schiavo has been dead for quite some time now and should be allowed to "technically" die...i mean whats the point of living as a vegetable...(another reason why a living will should be something everyone has)...i don't mean to sound harsh...but the fact of the matter is that the way she is - she brings pain to those around her and does not really give any meaning to her beating heart...for those of you who are pro-life...you may argue that we should not cut her off and mess with nature and all that...well - she is artificially being kept alive in the first place...there is nothing natural about her at this point...so, she should die...in fact, they should perhaps ease any pain she might have, if possible.

moving on...moot court kicked me out after the Round of 32...a minor disappointment...especially when i thought i had done really well...i am hoping to get some feedback...some people sympathize by saying i'm at the will of a very subjective judging process...i mean one judge looks for something that another doesn't...there's no standard...well...thanks for making me feel better..ha...but that's life...no judge in this country is like any other judge...which is why we have panels of judges...so i'm just gonna take this with a grain of salt...maybe some pepper...ok ok...anyway...i have a cool summer to look forward to...and as always - everything happens for a reason...

finally...i got booed and hissed at in class today...what's that about? i mean...yes a majority of the class got my joke and were laughing hysterically...but to those few who really thought i was trying to get out of being called on...your petty response seriously questions your maturity...did it bother you so much that i might not have had to answer? all i can say is - grow up. oh and also - there's a reason you sit in the back.

anyway...its gettin hot...i'm lovin it...gotta work on my tan ya know...exams are a month away...but i hope to do some stuff outside...i played some pool and frisbee today...and we're going bowling tonite...hopefully hema will come up on saturday...but the weather is supposed to suck...we'll see...i am starting to really enjoy my first year and the friends i've made...and its all about to end...sigh.

well...i think i'm gonna go swim or run or something to work up a sweat and then go kick it with my buds...laterz.

Me being mischevious... Posted by Hello

Rural Georgia is beautiful. Posted by Hello

Just a cool picture. Posted by Hello

Known as one of the most picturesque state parks in Georgia, Watson Mill Bridge contains the longest original-site covered bridge in the state, spanning 229 feet across the South Fork River. Built in 1885, the bridge is supported by a town lattice truss system held firmly together with wooden pins. At one time, Georgia had more than 200 covered bridges; today, less than 20 remain. Posted by Hello

Hitchcock & Picnics.

ok ok...i'm not going on a picnic with ol' hitchcock...i mean the guy's dead...i think. anyway...so i've been into watching hitchcock movies lately...only seen three so far...strangers on a train...to catch a thief...and north by northwest...and while i can't say that the movies are incredible...they are involving..and the best thing is that they were all shot a long time ago...there's something about movies and movie stars from that time that appeals to me...can't place a finger on it...they just seem more authentic...more romantic...more charismatic...anyway...i'm going to keep hitting blockbuster up for some more when i get a chance...busy days are ahead though...so we'll see..

i saw to catch a thief last night...and was watching some of the special features...there was this bit on grace kelly...the leading lady...how she married the prince of monaco after the movie and all...it was kind of ironic...that she later died in a car crash on the same road where she is shown driving recklessly in the movie trying to impress cary grant...

and what's with the accent of ladies from that era? its like this polished, upper crust accent that you just don't get in movies nowadays...when did that change?

anyway...about the picnic...so yeah...i'm waiting on hema to show up so that i can take her to this place called watson mill bridge...its one of those covered bridges and is supposed to be very picturesque and stuff...its a bit chilly but i'm sure we'll still have fun...here she is!!! bye!

me

sometimes you just have one of those days...and its like all the fingers are pointed at you...and you just wanna run out and be like screw the world...leave me the #%(@_ alone...

yea its one of those days...and the lyrics from gavin degraw's song feel highly appropriate:

I don't want to be anything other than what I've been trying to be lately

All I have to do is think about me and I have peace of mind
I'm tired of looking 'round rooms wondering what I gotta do
Or who I'm supposed to be
I don't want to be anything other than me

laterz fellas

what else going on...um...got my car fixed...just told them idiots they did a bad job hookin up the bumper...he took 5 mins and fixed it...did heena/hema's taxes..."tried" to put up curtain rods...a laser level ain't always level - right hema? hahahaha....yesterday was india nite at hema's place...she had all her CDC friends come over who had been wanting a taste of bollywood and her cooking...that was really cool...twice the number of ppl showed up for some reason...all the food was gone...oooh there was some good tofu tikka...and all sorts of other things...then we watched an indian movie (veer-zaara)...squadron leader veer pratap singh..hahah...watching an indian movie as a non-desi can make even the most serious moment funny....all in all it was fun....so i woke up late today...and now i don't know where my family is...the house is quiet...i plan to go investigate...

Barrister's Ball

last nite was one of those nites where a penguin suit brings out the jekyll in hyde....

hema arrived kinda early...and she was already decked out in her black sari...she looked really classy...she had straightened her hair the way i like it...meanwhile i was trying to unruffle the ruffles in my tux shirt...later on we met "a few" law buds for dinner at 5 n 10...that place is cool..but not if you don't eat meat...even my potato gnocchi had meat in it...i'm gonna have to go bathe in the ganga now for sinning...haha not...will die of TB if i do...anyway...from there we drove to the venue...on the way i got rear-ended...this idiot was watching a movie and driving his friggin SUV...i was sooo pissed...i thought he hadn't done any damage...so i cussed the hell out of him and drove off...but then realized that my bumper had come off a lil on the right side...great! gonna have to take that up with BMW and see if they can fix it w/out charging me...so i was already in a pissed mood when i got to the ball...

the fact that the dance was in a greek orthodox church brought all sorts of jokes to mind...but it seemed kinda ludicrous...gambling, booze, revelry in a CHURCH...hmmm...well...as the night got underway...i had a few drinks and was soon dragging hema to the dance floor so we could "cut a rug"...ok ok bad one...shake it...there ya go...pretty soon everyone was drunk enough to join...and we had a great time...i'm always a nut when it comes to dancing...and i think i might have flashed some moves that will be the source of constant ribbing for my entire law school career...but its all good...i don't really care what people think as long as i'm having a good time...

well the nite was over before ya know it...i did hear of a few funny scuffles and police incidents...but i'd rather not talk about the drunken fools who put themselves in that situation...after a futile attempt at hanging out downtown w/ some of the guys...we called it a nite...

all in all...the ball was a ball...(lame rhymes i know)

pics will be up soon...

Shootin'

i think i've officially been christened as a redneck today...no no...didn't wear the tight wranglers...those are still tucked away in the back of my closet...ha...i went shootin' today...and let me clarify that its shootin' and not shooting...the former is fun while the latter is a more of an english yuppie's sport...

anyway...so my friend shawn and his bro shane took us to this firing range out in the country (almost never made it..but that's another story)...i learned how to load a shotgun...and then took aim at two bottles and shot 'em both...i think my head grew twice its size at that point...haha...later i got to shoot some skeet...which i nailed 2 outta 3...and that was really cool cuz its much smaller....then we did silly stuff...like shooting a stuffed elephant...i shot up my apple left over from lunch...haha...shane even shot at shawn...but he was almost out of firing range...so he only got showered a lil...

anyway...from the pics below you can obviously see that i'm a badass...so now that i'm an expert marksman...you might want to think twice about crossing paths with this brown boy...

A milestone. Or two.

a couple milestones passed these last couple days...

first off...our 1 year...that was cool...last night i took hema to dante's down the hatch...i love that place...its awesome cuz i think i'm still a kid in a man's body..haha...and they got this whole ship and wharf scene going on...with crocodiles...its crazy...but it was intimate too...and so i think hema had a good time...then we went to intermezzo for some cheesecake...that place always comes thru...on food...we won't get into their drinks....haha...

second...the appellate brief...that shit is done and over! i think i did a decent job...but only time will tell i guess...i actually didn't mind it too much...which is a good sign considering i'll be writing tons of 'em when i start working....

well...today was a cool day...had a callback interview...and the firm was really cool...they're in a brand new office too which is all contemporary...i could see myself working there...its nice! i also got taken out to lunch at nan...this tyte thai place on 16th...one of the partners at lunch accidentally spilled food all over himself...but its all good...i've done that before at an interview!! cheese soup down my shirt...yuck...anyway...all the people were really personable...had a funny incident though...

at an interview we're supposed to find something in common with the interviewer right...so we talk about my background and here's what we find in common:
Attorney: So, Anuj, where did you work before?
Anuj: At Lanier, this copier/printer company.
Attorney: Oh, Lanier?
Anuj: Yea.
Attorney: Oh ok. Yeah, I sued them once for fraud.
Anuj: Well, I guess we having something in common!
Attorney: Yeah, I lost on appeal though - $1.7 million.
Anuj: I'm sorry?!

haha..i thought that exchange was funny...

later today i also found out i gotta couple more interviews coming up....man...i wish i could teleport to atlanta...these drives are killing me...and i hate missing class...especially civ pro...ok ok that last line was supposed to be funny....

well...i think i'm gonna get back to reading property...oh yea...i'm going shooting tomorrow with shawn and some buds...its gonna be fun...

some more pics coming soon...adios ya gringos
