Adventure!

so a couple days ago...i spot this run down water tower and factory near my apartments...i ask shawn about it and he's game to check it out...class gets cxl'd and so we have the perfect excuse...we parked up at the leasing office and walked down macon hwy to the place...turns out its boarded up with barbed wire and no trespassing signs...so we skirt around the perimeter...we find the oconee river and fall it north...on the way...we found some funky spiders...one had this elaborate abdomen painting that would scare the crap outta some bird...we even jumped over the gate of some boarded off ESA site...anyway...we couldn't find a way across the river...so we headed back...

then we started going west around the factory...at one point we found a place where the river formed a sort of lagoon...frogs started jumping in the river kamikaze style as they saw us approach...we were getting a pretty good view of the factory...but still couldn't get inside...we thought to keep going - actually shawn did - i just sort of nodded...at this point i was feeling a bit apprehensive...i was only wearing shorts and we were about to go trudging through some thick plants and crap...at one point i had to jump over this stream...it wasn't dangerous but i didn't want to get my shoes wet...anyway...made it just fine...we finally found this old dam...it was pretty cool...there was river silt at the bottom...we went down there...then we had a hallmark moment as we found flat stones that we skipped across the river...haha...shawn found a crawfish...his manly attempt to spear it with a twig failed though...

we kept following the river down until we came back around and under the highway...at this point i wanted to get back cuz i was being eaten alive by mosquitoes...i still have welts...after making a few lizards scurry out of our way...we finally made it back up...we did do a pinky swear at the end that we would ultimately trespass and go explore that factory....

Claustrophobia

i just watched a movie the other day that totally affirmed my claustrophobia...its called The Jacket..i mean i wasn't even in the movie and i was getting all uneasy and anxious...the movie's a little weird but great work...adrien brody was awesome...i won't get into the whole movie...but basically he's in this nuthouse and as part of some experimental therapy...he's put in a morgue drawer for hours on end while he's still conscious...to top that...he's put in a strait jacket....i just tried to imagine myself in his position...i think i would hyperventilate and die...not kidding.

well...the weekend is here...i'm already tired from playing tennis this afternoon...we're going out tonight for anna's birthday (happy birthday to the banana) ...and then who knows what else...tomorrow should be fun - might actually do something relaxing instead of law review or studying...bah...

man rita's hittin up my hometown (houston)...really sux...hopefully there won't be too much damage and suffering...just makes me want to make every day count and be fun and meaningful...never know when you'll have to pack and leave...ok i think i'm being rather droll...so i'll stop..

um...nuthin else really...i'm gonna do some more reading before heading out...adios.

Bling Bling Baby.

sometimes i have the world's worst luck...like when my contractor half-paints my kitchen...and runs off to florida for a few weeks without telling me and without returning my calls....then i call the other day to see if his voicemail has changed to "I am dead now" and instead find him picking it up..or when my check engine light comes on every freakin' week...

but then there's times when i have great luck...and recently its been hobnobbin' with the rich & famous in atlanta...this is far above rubbin shoulders with usher at versace...like a few weeks ago i ran into my ol' chum denz - short for denzel washington of course...he was in town to see his boy play football...i was of course checking in at the four seasons for an interview...but of course i was in a rush...so i just waved...otherwise i'm sure we would have thrown back a few...and then yesterday...i was at the hotel gym working out...when i find and see the band-aid rapper right next to me! that's right...i work out with nelly...aah...lifestyle of the bling bling law student...it was kinda cool...cuz he was talking about his next cut with JD...and some charity concert...getting all excited and stuff...of course he wasn't talking to me - just to his bluetooth headset...but i swear he looked at me a few times and flared his platinum implants...that was respect for the brown brutha...

well...interview season is finally over...now its back to good ol' athens...i gotta crapload of work to do...oh yeah...if one gets a chance...one must watch this movie...its crazy good...makes me wanna visit south america...and the soundtrack is awesome as well....nuthin else going on...hopefully will get some free time this weekend...maybe cook-out like last time...although i won't force any of my room-mates to eat grilled mushrooms...last time i tried that - i got dove blood all over my food...no joke.

anyhoo...must get back to reality...which will likely no longer include meeting movie stars and rappers. doh.

New Orleans.

i was supposed to go the big easy for my friend's bachelor party early next year...i guess not. its kind of sad and humbling to see the destruction there...i know people have talked about this ad nauseum in the past few days...but i'm still enraged by the looters...i think thats despicable to steal electronics and jewelry and guns when people are dying...you would think event such as these would bring out the humanity in others...well i hope to do something to help out through my law school...

other than that...things are just bumping along...did a couple more interviews...they went really well...i liked the firms and their people...i think the decision will be kind of hard in the end...by the way - the ritz carlton downtown should not be called a five star hotel...no way...anyway i have to catch up with law review and homework this weekend...so not a lot of partying...

can't think of anything else really...oh yeah...my mom sent me this link which was super-cheesy, but at the same time reminiscent of some of the things we should all keep in mind...so i'm posting it here...but if anyone makes fun of me i will bring my macho self to smack down upon you...hahaha...

click here for the cheesy link...make sure u leave the sound on...
