ONE year...

hullo people...its late...i'm cranky...and about to go take a shower and pass out...this brief is anything but brief...i really question if i want to be an attorney on days like this...

anyway...in about an hour...i'm gonna call up hema and wish her happy one year of putting up with yours truly....i can't believe its been a year...to be honest - it feels like five years...(in a good way)...its been an amazing time and the good thing is - there are lots more years to come...(cue boyz II men song) and before i get all mushy and "emote" <-- as dix would say --> i'm gonna go ahead and not say anymore...all i will say is that she's got a cool surprise waiting for her on monday when i go to atlanta to see her...can't wait.

i'll write some more this weekend...i gotta appease the belly gods and sleep.

the terminal

had my callback interview at nelson mullins...and it went well...i like the firm a lot - really laid back and down to earth people...i hope they like me back!! haha...also got another call back today...i'm gonna try and schedule that after the brief is due...i should really start working on that...my prof raised her eyebrows today when i told her i would get started soon...doh!

well..after working 7 hours on the brief today (don't ask me what i accomplished)...i felt i deserved some much needed R & R...just wanted some alone time...and so i watched "the terminal"...i thought that movie was great...i mean its funny and has an engaging story...i think hanks did an awesome job with the east european accent and even the look - sometimes he gets that bulby eye look that just screams fat russian! da! anyway...i also think its a great character portrayal...novarski is this honest guy who's resourceful and romantic...maybe that's why amelia doesn't stay with him in the end...she doesn't feel she deserves him...i dunno...drawing a parallel to my own life...i think the law school is my terminal sometimes...except for the hot chick walkin by in heels and falling into my lap...much is the same...haha...i keed i keed...hema's prob gonna read this and be like - ungrateful heathen...

well...gotta turn in soon...gonna work non-stop on the brief again tomorrow...then my bro and his lady are comin in to town along with a couple other good friends...we're all gonna go to india nite at the classic center...man...i remember when i performed in those things...it was fun...sometimes i still wanna do it...but then i look at all these younguns...and i'm like...uhhh..i'm too old for this shit..hah...i dare not show the videos to my law buds...

that's about it...oh yea...never try boboli wheat crust...that stuff is stank! ok that was random...but its good advice.

rejections

tomorrow will be my tenth interview so far...yeah....i'm tired! anyway....the first two rejections rolled in today...pfizer up in NYC and Womble in ATL....i figure by doing ten interviews i can play the odds...and land at least one job...maybe not....

so then being the Type A personality that i am...i stay up until the wee hours over analyzing the situation...what could it be? i wasn't enthusiastic enough...that handshake wasn't too firm...or maybe it was wayyyy too firm....this moves on to....they're racist...yeah that's it....law firms in ATL still can't dig the brown man...but then reality sets in - i just didn't cut it...try again...better luck next time.

well...try i will...i gotta do something productive this summer...my goal is not to get a single loan thru law school...so far i'm doing fine by living off of my savings from the past few years...but when you don't have a steady paycheck...the bank balance doesn't stay in the black for too long...hopefully i'll land something....

other than that...not much else going on...came home today...saw mom and just chilled with her for a while...then ironed my suit and got my things ready for tomorrow...can't believe i forgot my portfolio in athens...now i'm gonna have to go to o'max and buy a new one (maybe i can return it after the interview...hahaha...)...after that...perhaps shop for a new suit - then again do i need another one if i don't make it past the first interview!! ok ok...stop being a pessimist....and gotta work on my brief and stuff...

so...the next few weeks are gonna be hell....i'm gonna pray to saraswati (Indian Godess of Education) to send a few callbacks my way...till then...laterz.

Interviews from hell...

aah...these past couple days have been really crazy...all of course a direct result of my type A personality wanting to do everything all the time...i need to be forcibly relaxed.

yesterday was strange...i had this 15 mins volunteer thing at the ga center...(yeah 15 mins..i know)...so i take a bus there which takes 20 mins...then i get there...and all of a sudden i realize that i was supposed to be dressed up...my lame ass is in jeans...baggy jeans....great...so i ask what i'm supposed to do...and i'm told that i have to help the other 25 or so volunteers usher certain bigwigs to their lunch tables...great...so i stand around...people manage to usher themselves in...so i get ready to begin my 20 mins journey back and i'm told that i have to go have lunch now...i was like what! i have class...but i had to go as each table needed a student...so i find my table...its right next to the podium...there goes my plan for a covert escape...finally people start pouring in...and some nice ladies ask if they can sit with me...then some lady takes to the stage...and turns out i'm at some private fundraising gala thing....she wants to recognize the volunteers...so too my embarrassment...i have to stand up in my scruffy clothes and stay standing for like a few mins...uggh...meanwhile the president of the university is sitting at the next table staring at my "business CASUAL" attire...i finally get to sit down...and then bear the rest of lunch...the only cool thing was that i got to know the director of the law library...met Dean Beard...and had the best strawberry coconut icecream cake ever!

then that night...went to the 1L employer mixer...that was cool...did the rounds and met all the folks...but i had a headache so i left after a while...then later that nite went to anna's...that was a lot of fun...i can't believe how many law students it takes to figure out catchphrase..hahah...but it was fun...especially when my friends are tipsy...well i had to leave early cuz of my busy next day...


which is today...interviews all day...got in at 8:30AM...didn't leave till about 6PM...met so many people...grinned on cue...dried my sweaty palms...and in general tried to pull of suave...haha...but i was glad when it was over...one firm was hilarious...both the interviewers seemed a lil "happy"...i guess from the night before...to prove they're great guys...one of them showed me the open beverage citation he got from the police at 2:30AM the night before...other gem questions from that interview include - what karaoke song would you sing? what strikes you odd about this picture (shows me pic of swimmers with a guy in a speedo)? man...what a day

well..i'm home now...and pigged out on nachos...and i'm really trying to find an excuse not to study anymore...

tomorrow should be fun...i go to town to surprise hema for valentine's...taking her to fired & wired...and just hang out for a while...then in the evening i'm going to my friends' parents' anniversary party...will be good to see folks i haven't seen in months...so tomorrow might be fun...let's hope it doesn't rain much...

oh yea..i sign the lease to my new apt for this fall on monday...glad to get that outta the way...i'm movin in with two guys from my class...dave and shawn...one's a wanna-be philosopher and the other one's had one too many growin up on the farm adventures...should be fun.

hella week

crazy week ahead of me...i got interviews....receptions...volunteering....tax prep....oh and let's not forget law school...ha...lets just hope i keep my head straight...i also gotta figure out where i'm staying this fall...so a couple places...and i hope i find a place soon...we'll see.

well...super bowl was fun cuz i was with my friends and all...but the game was just a big blooper....mcnabb was hilarious with his interceptions and sacks....and the random slip and falls were quite cool....ads sucked this year...except the cat one....haha....PETA is prob havin a heart attack...but it was all in good fun....that was spaghetti sauce right?

anyhoo...i got stuff to do before i call it a nite...so i'm outta here....

super bowl weekend

aaah...friday! well...a lot has happened this week...good and bad...i won't mention the bad...but focus on the good....

i got some job interviews for the coming weeks...which is exciting and yet dreadful...now i gotta prep...and wear uptight clothing...uggh....but if a job comes out of it (chances nil to nil)...then its worth it i guess...

got hw to do...got apt. hunting to do...got superbowl partyin to do...i'm a busy man...haha..not.

well...this is a weird winter...its 8PM...and my windows are wide open....and my room is 70 degrees...global warming - we're all gonna die...

well...gonna head out to dix's and have an exciting movie night...sigh...my life is so riveting. till next time...adios.

headache

i gotta headache right now...not sure why...well...today was an "eventful" day...i found out that i didn't make it to the next round in the mock trial comps...which was a big relief cuz my prosecution closing statement sucked and i really didn't want to be a litigator when i grow up....but it kinda sucked cuz making it to the next round would have put me on the mock trial board...oh well...

good news is that i got 3 interviews so far for summer jobs...of course - none of them will likely result in a job...but its still cool to dream...haha...

we also got our appellate brief assignment today...and its 50 pages of madness....man i hate LRW...and the sweater vest nazi...haha..

well dunno yet what plans are for superbowl and stuff...still got work to do tonight...but i'm sleepy and this headache is makin me cranky...so i'm out...laterz
